Walmart launches delivery-as-a-service business

Walmart launched a white label service called GoLocal, designed to deliver goods to customers of businesses of all sizes.

The Delivery as a Service business is intended to enable merchants of all sizes and categories to use Walmart’s competitively priced delivery capabilities to grow their businesses.

Walmart GoLocal has already signed several contractual agreements with national and corporate retail customers.

It will make deliveries using cutting-edge technologies, including autonomous vehicles and drones.

The expedition is expected to begin by the end of this year.

Walmart US President and CEO John Furner said, “In an age where customers expect fast and reliable service, it’s more important than ever for businesses to work with a service provider who understands the needs of traders.

“Walmart has spent years developing and expanding business capabilities that support our network of more than 4,700 stores, and we look forward to helping other businesses access the same reliable, quality, and cost-effective services. low cost. “

The launch is in line with Walmart’s overall strategy to create additional revenue streams and profit pools through various initiatives.

The company launched its standard and express delivery services in 2018, which currently sell more than 160,000 products in more than 3,000 stores.

It continues to use its existing delivery network, including drones, autonomous vehicles and distribution centers.

Tom Ward, Walmart US Senior Vice President for Last Mile, said, “We have worked hard to develop a reliable last mile delivery program for our customers.

“Now we’re excited to be able to use these capabilities to serve another group of customers, the local traders. “

In June, Walmart announced an investment in Virginia-based drone service provider DroneUp to improve its last mile delivery service.

Last year, the two companies teamed up to pilot deliveries of Covid-19 self-collection kits to homes. Since then, hundreds of deliveries have been sent from Walmart stores via drones.
