Service charge

The rate of the federal fee for universal service will decrease as of January 1

Viya is advising the public of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Quarterly Universal Service Surcharge Change that affects carriers nationwide. Viya phone, wireless, and long distance customers will notice a decrease in Federal Universal Service Charges (FUSC) on January 1, 2022.

The FUSC surcharge factor recovers the costs associated with the carrier’s contributions to the federal universal fund program. The government-mandated program is designed to help keep service rates affordable for all customers, in all regions of the United States.

Effective January 1, there will be a decrease in the FUSC surtax factor from 29.10% to 25.20%. Single-line subscribers will see a reduction in their bill from $1.89 to $1.64 per line. Multi-line business subscribers will see their bill increase from $3.55 to $3.07 per line.
