Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and Moi International Airport (MIA) have been rated the best in Africa for the second consecutive year by Airports Council International (ACI).

JKIA in Nairobi and MIA in Mombasa topped the rankings Best airport 2021 by size and region respectively in the categories 5 to 15 million passengers per year and less than 2 million passengers per year.

The ACI Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey is considered the aviation industry’s most comprehensive passenger service benchmarking program and captures the experience of passengers at over 300 airports worldwide.

ACI World Managing Director Luis Felipe de Oliveira has praised the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) for its efforts to improve the passenger experience.

“Your customers have spoken and recognized your team’s successful efforts to deliver a superior customer experience during these challenging times,” Oliveira said.

“As the industry recovers, continuing to listen and adapt to travelers will be absolutely crucial to strengthening airports’ competitive advantage, non-aeronautical revenues and ensuring the sustainable recovery of the entire airport ecosystem. ‘aviation.”

KAA Chief Executive Alex Gitari noted that the Authority relies on industry best practices as it seeks to provide a seamless passenger experience at its airports.

“We are truly delighted that for the second consecutive year, our two main airports have been recognized by ACI for their efforts to provide a better customer experience in a safe and secure environment,” said Mr. Gitari.

The award was presented as the Authority prepares to host the 67th edition of the ACI-Africa Regional Conference in Mombasa from March 12-18.
