JAMB Increases Mock Exam Service Fees

Candidates who will take the 2022 Unified Graduate Diploma (UTME) Mock Examinations will now pay N1000 as Computer Service Fee (CBT) instead of N600.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said the rise in service charges was due to the high cost of diesel in the country.

The council had pledged to support CBT center owners with the necessary palliatives to the high cost of diesel in the country. In its weekly bulletin released on Monday, the board said, “All candidates who have shown interest in taking the optional Mock-UTME must pay 1,000 Naira to the CBT center where they are assigned to take the exam as a service.

“Although the council wishes to keep the cost to a minimum, the high cost of diesel and other consumables necessitated the increase from N600 to N1,000 to enable the CBT centers to provide the necessary infrastructure, as partners of the council , to host the exam to be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022.

“The board has thought about this increase and decided that instead of canceling the fake UTME, the introduction of which improved candidates’ confidence to take the exam due to the high cost of diesel, it is better to increase the service fee to make the exercise worthwhile for the participating centre.

The board noted, however, that candidates assigned to JAMB-owned centers would not be required to pay for the use of the centers, except but only those who use the private facilities deployed for the exam.

The optional mock exam was introduced by the board to give candidates the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the CBT environment.
